About
“It’s weird not to be weird.” ~ John Lennon
“Louisiana Tech University Graduate with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science concentrating in Big Data and Cloud computing.”
That’s what it says on my resume’, but it doesn’t go much into the ‘why’. Why
computer Science? Why something as stuffy as “Big Data” when concentrations in
the much more fun Game Design were available?
Simply put, Big Data fascinates me. Coding and technology flare up my
imagination. Mathematical algorithms are intriguing to watch play out
(conveniently with the machine doing all the raw computation and not
me!). I’m always excited to try and learn new things in this constantly
evolving field.
In addition, as much as I look towards the future, both for tech and myself,
I can’t help but be drawn towards the past. The programs and technologies of
yesteryear. I’m an avid collector in old game systems and hardware, and
exploring old software either through emulation of commodore computers or Virtual Machines of Windows 9x is a frequent hobby of mine. Forgotten
programming languages, outdated methods and algorithms, the inner workings
of technology long abandoned, it all interests me a great deal. Maybe one
day I’ll get to work on old as dirt legacy systems, with tape-reel computers
clicking away in some company’s basement!
I’ve built this blog as a place to freely ramble about whatever comes up
in my tech life. Old or new, it’ll be here. I’ve described it as a portfolio
that is itself part of the portfolio! Have a look and do enjoy my blatant
narcissism!
